Highlights of 08/31/10 Workout

Had a great workout tonight! Got out of work a little early today, so I was able to get my workout in a little sooner then normal. Always do much better when it’s not 9pm before I get a workout in.
Today was Upper Body Night:

Training UpDate (7-29-10)

One of the last times I posted, I told you that I was changing up my training for better recovery and hopefully to reach my goals quicker. Since that time I have had roughly 4 workouts. I have to say that I think this new program is going to work great, I just wish I [...]

A Little Keg Carrying

I thought today instead of just recapping everything I did in my workout, I would give you a short video of me having fun carrying the Keg. In the video I carry a 160# keg for 120 feet, with turns every 30 feet. I could go a little faster then I am, but I picked [...]

What Is Functional Training

Lately I have noticed there is a lot of misinformation and confusion about certain training principles and techniques. One of those areas that have stirred a lot of discussion is functional training. It quickly became a buzz word when the concept was first introduced. Since that time, there seems to be more detractors then proponents for it.

I believe the reason so many people are starting to speak out against it, is due to all of the confusion as to what functional training actually is. In my opinion, there are two main problems that have led to this confusion. The first is confusing functional training with sport specific training and the second problem is the extremists that have taken a good idea and twisted it into something resembling a circus act.

Changes

As you can see I have been making some changes, especially if you came looking for the forum.  I decided to take the forum down, since I was not happy with the design. I want to make sure that everything I bring to you is quality stuff. Thats why you will continue to see small [...]

Iron Is My Therapy

I have had a lot of Rage lately.
Due to life events, the economy, my own stupid choices, etc… At times I battle depression and anger. This might be a shock to a lot of people, even people who are fairly close to me. There is a reason for that, because I use “the Iron” as [...]

How Motivated Are You?

Put vim, force, vitality into every movement of your body.
Let your very atmosphere be that of one who is…
Determined to stand for something, and to be somebody…
Dare to step out of the crowd and blaze your own path.
